Placemaking Week Australia
In recognition of the innovative and creative public spaces across our cities, towns and communities, the International Cities, Town Centres and Communities (ICTC) Society are pleased to host Placemaking Week Australia in Parramatta, NSW from the 13 – 17 October 2020.
Placemaking Week Australia is about showcasing great public spaces, building conversations, highlighting community driven placemaking and best practice placemaking initiatives.
Placemaking is essential in transforming spaces in our cities and towns to encourage community engagement and interactions, while fostering healthier, socially and economically sustainable places.
The ICTC Society is pleased to work in conjunction with the City of Parramatta, as the host city, to hold a number of Placemaking Week activities.
Join us as we celebrate outstanding placemaking across Australia and Internationally.
Placemaking Week Activities
Placemaking Week Australia is being held in conjunction with the 20th ICTC Conference being held in Parramatta, NSW from the 14 – 16 October 2020. This is an opportunity for industry experts to come together to discuss, interact and showcase best practice, learn from one another and experience first-hand the challenges and opportunities.

Seen a great initiative of forward thinking placemaking, community-driven public spaces or city activations? Capture the project and share it to go in the draw to win.
How to enter: Email your photo to ICTC with a caption on how the photo best showcases innovative placemaking (100 word max), the location and photo competition category.
Entres close: Friday 25 September 2020 with online voting opening shortly after.
Judging: All photos will be uploaded to the ICTC Facebook page for voting by the public. The photo with the highest online votes and bonus entry points, will be notified by email by Friday 9 October 2020. The winning photo will be published online during Placemaking Week.
Bonus entry: Share your photo on your own social media platform with the hashtag #placemakingaus and earn a bonus 10 points to your online voting total.
Prize: Major Prize – 1 nights accommodation at Parkroyal Parramatta and a $500 voucher for an ICTC Conference Registration.
Runner up prize – $200 voucher for an ICTC Conference Registration. Awarded to the photo with the highest vote in each category.

Terms and Conditions: A maximum of 5 entries will be accepted per person. ICTC Conference vouchers will be applied to the total full registration cost for ICTC 2020. The balance will be payable by the attendee.
Be an Ambassador
Are you passionate and motivated about placemaking in your city, town centre or community? You are invited to join our network of people who want to better their community and public spaces as a 2020 Placemaking Week Ambassador.
ICTC are looking for individuals with significant influence that can help build awareness of best practice Placemaking initiatives and to help us share and distribute transferable ideas and content to other communities to amplify and celebrate Placemaking Week in Australia.
Ambassadors serve as positive advocates and use their own channels to write, publish, and share Placemaking Week Australia related content. If you are interested in becoming an ambassador, please apply below.
Not only will you be joining a community of like-minded people, you will be recognised on the Placemaking Week Australia website and social media. Have your content shared on the ICTC blog (pending approval), plus access exclusive discounts to Placemaking Week Australia events.
